Complete work contains fifty-five coloured plates, twenty collotype plates and 8 tinted lithographic plates.Part I contains the diary of the author's collector, Henry Palmer, on his collecting expedition of 1890-1893, together with the author's introduction. Part II is a history of the birds of the Hawaiian islands, continued over into Part III, with classifications and illustrations. Part III also includes substantial classification lists. Palmer procured 1,832 specimens, including fifteen previously unknown species.
