Bettina Caroline de Rothschild (1858-1892)
Bettina Caroline de Rothschild, the daughter of Mayer Alphonse and Leonora, was born in 1858.
At the age of sixteen she passed her teaching certificate, and on 22 March 1876 she married her Austrian cousin Albert. The couple settled in Vienna where she raised seven children.
Bettina's life was short: on 24 March 1892, she died of cancer. A generous benefactor of Viennese charities in her lifetime, her name was preserved in the gifts of her family to the city after her death.
