In 1897 the creator of Waddesdon Manor, Baron Ferdinand Rothschild, wrote a revealing and vivid autobiographical account of dealers and collectors. A major document for the history of collecting, it was reproduced in Apollo, July/August 2007 with an introduction by Michael Hall, in the article Bric-a-Brac: a Rothchild's memoir of collecting.
